"Don't wanna open up a can of worms, but the audience was allowed to tape JGB performances just like GD."

I don't think this is true. Every JGB show I saw had "No Taping" stamped on the tickets, and I remember always having to stealth tape after having to sneak in equipment.

Guess it depends on the venue. I'm from the West coast and have a ton of JGB stuff on analog from Warfield, Russian ?River, Shoreline...the quality isn't the best, guess they are true bootlegs. Never knew that no taping was allowed at JGB. You learn something new everyday :)

Yeah, it seems kind of strange. Everyone seems to think Jerry was always so "pro" taping, but his solo stuff was always strickly off limits. Maybe to protect the rights of whoever he was playing with?
I am from the East Coast and never saw the JGB out west, but all the shows here were no taping allowed and they were pretty serious about it. Kind of made more fun though... Every deadhead loves a challenge;-)

I have no idea, but because his stuff was 90% cover tunes including a ton of Motown, could that have something to do with his no taping policy
